Menus This chapter describes the menu commands in Bliss Saver. The menus of Bliss Saver are:  File Edit Bliss Menu Shortcuts To use the following menu shortcuts, hold the Command key (⌘) down and press the letter for the command. Open ⌘O Close ⌘W Quit ⌘Q Preferences ⌘U Play ⌘P Stop ⌘S Paint Window ⌘1 Catalog ⌘L Color Synthesizer ⌘Y Keyboard Map ⌘K Zoom Window ⌘= Help ⌘? Find ⌘F Find Again ⌘G The menus are described in order from left to right. Apple Menu To open a desk accessory, choose it from the Apple menu. About Bliss Saver To see the Bliss Saver about box, choose About Bliss Saver from the Apple menu. The about box displays the Imaja address and phone number, and the name of the person that this copy Bliss Saver is registered to. The serial number of your copy of Bliss Saver is also displayed in the about box. This is needed for technical support and upgrades to new versions of Bliss Saver. File Menu Open ⌘O To open a Bliss Saver painting, choose Open from the File menu. A directory dialog box is displayed which lets you choose a Bliss Saver painting document from your disk. You may also open paintings by clicking a painting name in the Catalog window. Close ⌘W To close a Bliss Saver window, choose Close from the File menu. Closing a Bliss Saver window does not quit the Bliss Saver application or close the currently open Bliss Painting. Install To install Bliss Saver as a startup application under System 7 or later, choose Install from the File menu. In System 7, an alias is created in the System Folder in the Startup Items folder. This alias makes Bliss Saver run every time you start your computer. Quit ⌘Q To quit the Bliss Saver application, choose Quit from the File menu. Screen saving only operates when the Bliss Saver application is running. You can make Bliss Saver start automatically when you start your computer by choosing the Install command in the File menu. Edit Menu The Edit menu provides the standard Macintosh commands for editing text. For instance, you can use the Select All command in Bliss Saver to select a page of text in the Help manual. Once selected, the text font and size can be changed with the Font and Size menus in the top of the Manual window. Preferences ⌘U To change the preferences for how Bliss Saver works as a screen saver, choose Preferences from the Edit menu. A dialog appears with several controls. The preference controls are described in detail in the Preferences chapter. Bliss Menu Play ⌘P To display the currently loaded Bliss Saver painting, choose Play from the Bliss menu. The painting will be drawn as the colors in the painting are also animated. If the loop option is on in the Catalog window, the painting sequence will repeat. If the step option is on, the next painting will be played when the current one finishes. If the random option is on, a random painting is chosen when you choose Play, and the next paintings will also be randomly chosen. If the Play command is chosen when a painting is already playing, the painting will be paused. Stop ⌘S To stop the automatic painting, choose Stop. The painting sequence and color animation will stop. To animate the color without restarting the painting sequence, press the comma key on the keyboard. Play Full Screen ⌘T This command plays the selected painting in the full screen after hiding the menu bar. To stop playback, press ⌘-Period. This command lets you perform with Bliss Saver without worrying about moving the mouse. When in screen saving mode, moving the mouse will stop the playback. Paint Window ⌘1 To bring the Paint window to the front, choose Paint Window. The Paint window is where Bliss Saver displays the currently open Bliss Painting. Catalog ⌘L To bring the Bliss Paintings catalog window to the front, choose Catalog. The catalog window displays a list of the Bliss Paintings available. If no paintings are available, option click the window to show Bliss Saver where your Bliss Paintings folder is. Keyboard Map ⌘K The Keyboard Map window displays information about the keys used to control the color synthesizer. Color Synthesizer ⌘Y To bring the Color Synthesizer window to the front, choose Color Synthesizer from the Bliss menu. The Color Synthesizer can be used to control the color or black-and-white patterns in a Bliss Painting image. This window can used when painting in the Paint window, but not when in screen saving mode. Zoom Window ⌘= To zoom the Bliss Saver window to fill the screen, or to shrink it to the original size, choose Zoom Window from the Bliss menu. Help ⌘? To open the on-line manual for Bliss Saver, choose Help from the Bliss menu. The Bliss Saver Manual will open in a new window. For more information on the Manual window, see the Windows section of this manual. Use Sound Input To make Bliss Saver respond to sound, choose Use Sound Input from Bliss menu. When sound input is enabled, a checkmark appears next to the menu item. See Sound Control for detailed information. Use MIDI Input To make Bliss Saver respond to MIDI, choose Use MIDI Input from Bliss menu. When MIDI input is on, a checkmark appears next to the menu item. See MIDI Control for detailed information. Find ⌘F To search the manual for a word, choose Find from the Bliss menu. In the dialog box that appears, type the word or part of a word that you want to search for. Click Find to start the search. Use Find Again to find the next occurrence of the word. Find Again ⌘G To repeatedly search the manual for the same word, choose Find Again. You must have already searched for the word using the Find command. The search will start from the current position in the manual. Table of Contents
